Motorola’s set-top box business
Reuters reported Friday that Motorola’s set-top box business, part of its Home plus Networks Mobility unit, has drawn several acquisition bids from private equity firms. Companies such as Arris Group also may have an interest, according to the Reuters story. a few weeks ago, Motorola stated that it expected the HNM unit plus the market-leading STB business to have a stronger year in 2010, irrespective of how quickly the housing market bounces back.

Google set-top box?
According to several sources Google is planning to conquer IPTV market as it successfully did with other markets.
Google hopes that the new platform will succeed where dozens of lesser efforts have failed—to truly and seamlessly integrate web-site onto TVs, bringing services like Twitter and sites like YouTube, in addition to games, webapps, and, of coursework, Google’s search, to the large screen. The Google TV application reportedly includes a version of Google’s Chrome browser for doing some light surfing, as well.
